If you live in or have ever been to East TN you know that it can be unbearably hot in August. So for this middle of the day August senior session, I was prepared to be veryyy sweatyyy.
But to my surprise and delight some pretty clouds rolled in and a cool breeze was felt the majority of Kahlan’s SAP senior session.
However, if you know anything about science or weather – you know that when it goes from super hot and muggy to clouds and breezy, there is about to be a storm.
And what a storm it was. Thankfully we had been shooting for over an hour before we heard thunder and at the first few raindrops we found shelter, where we waited out the storm for 45 minutes.
Was the storm ideal? No, not at all. But did we have the best time regardless? Yes, yes we did!
It was so fun talking and getting to know Kahlan, her sweet sister, and mama better as we waited out the storm. Finally when the thunder ceased we ventured out into the light drizzle and as you’ll see at the end of this blog post, we embraced the rain and captured some of the dreamiest candids! I hope you enjoy looking through some of my favorites from Kahlan’s session at the stunning Biltmore Estate. Onto the blog!…

One of the things I love about living in East Tennessee is how I am completely surrounded by beautiful nature. The only challenging part is finding nature spots that are easily accessible for a client wearing heels and a fancy dress lol. But I love a challenge and being creative with my locations.
Eden and her mom, Jordan expressed that they would love to have blooming trees in Eden’s photos if all possible.
We had originally scheduled Eden’s session right during the peak spring bloom, but because of cold and rainy weather we postponed her session by a week.
I was so worried we’d miss the blooms, so I kept checking the weather religiously, to see if we’d get a break from the rain. Thankfully we did, and I called Jordan (on very short notice) to see if they’d be willing to shoot a mini session with the blooms, before our actual scheduled date. Even though it was windy and quite cold, Eden was so trusting and willing, and we were rewarded with some of the prettiest dogwood blooms I’ve seen!
We then finished the rest of Eden’s session on a much warmer day the next week.
A big thank you to Jordan and Eden for being so flexible and trusting of my weather and location advice. Eden: I loved hanging out with you and getting to know you!! You have the cutest laugh and are a joy to be around!
I hope y’all enjoy Eden’s springy senior session!
Onto the blog……
